Robertson & Caine (Pty) Ltd was initially established in 1991 to focus on the custom-built sailing yacht market. The company is the largest boat builder in Southern Africa and one of the biggest catamaran builders in the world, having over 1000 superbly built boats to its credit, and is currently building a range of production catamarans for both the international charter and private markets.
The company's boat yard is head quartered in Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa, a few kilometres from the city centre and the harbour. Construction of a new office block and production facility, doubling the factory size to 30,000 square meters, was undertaken in 2003.
Due to continued growth and new projects, the company has expanded to several new sites in Cape Town and now occupies over 45,000 square meters, across three production facilities, incorporating four production lines (producing up to three catamarans in a production week).
The company employs over 600 local workers who have, over the years, been trained into highly skilled and semi-skilled workers, producing a world class product. By specialization of the manufacturing process, the yard has been developed into a high quality, high volume production facility.
